Summer Blueberry Season Update at Reenders Farm

Mid-Season Update: Life on the Farm This Summer

Happy Summer from all of us at Reenders Blueberry Farms!

It’s hard to believe we’re already well into another blueberry season! It feels like just yesterday we were waiting for the first berries to ripen, and now our fields have been filled with families, fresh-picked blueberries, and the excitement that summer always brings.

As always, every season has its own story, and 2026 has certainly kept us busy.

A Different Start to the Season

This spring brought cooler temperatures that delayed the start of harvest by a little over a week. While we were all anxious for blueberry season to begin, the extra time on the bushes helped produce beautiful berries with excellent size and flavor.

Since opening, we’ve loved welcoming so many familiar faces back to the farm, along with plenty of first-time visitors experiencing blueberry season with us.

Whether you’re here to fill a bucket in the fields, grab a box of fresh-picked berries, or simply enjoy a blueberry donut, we’re grateful you’ve chosen to spend part of your summer with us.

One of the most memorable moments of our season was welcoming visitors all the way from the Netherlands. Through a bit of family history, we discovered that our families are related nearly eight generations back, making their visit even more meaningful. As part of an incredible journey, they’re biking across the United States from Vancouver, to Washington, D.C., and they made Reenders Blueberry Farms one of their planned stops along the way. It was such a special opportunity to share our farm, exchange family stories, and connect over our shared roots. Moments like these remind us that farming has a unique way of bringing people together, no matter how many miles—or generations—separate us.

What’s Growing Right Now?

One of the most common questions we receive is, “What varieties are you picking?”

So far this season we’ve worked our way through several varieties, and the fields continue to change as the weeks go by.

Depending on when you visit, you’ll find varieties such as:

  • Earlyblue
  • Bluecrop
  • Jersey
  • Coville
  • Elliott (coming later in the season)

Each variety has its own unique flavor, size, and texture, which is one of the things that makes blueberry season so much fun. We’d love to know—which variety do you wait all year for?

What Happens Behind the Scenes?

While the Farm Market and U-Pick fields stay busy, there’s an incredible amount of work happening throughout the farm each day.

While the Farm Market and U-Pick fields stay busy, there’s an incredible amount of work happening throughout the farm each day.

Meanwhile, others are mowing rows, maintaining irrigation systems, caring for the bushes, and making sure the fields are ready for the next day’s harvest.

It truly takes an amazing team to keep everything running smoothly during blueberry season.

More Than Just Blueberries

If you’ve stopped by recently, you’ve probably noticed there’s plenty more to enjoy than just berries.

Our Farm Market has been filled with:

  • Fresh blueberry donuts
  • Blueberry jam
  • Local blueberry honey
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Fresh-picked berries
  • Blueberry gifts and treats

We’ve also loved welcoming local food trucks to the farm throughout the summer. Seeing families gather for lunch, spend time in the fields, and enjoy an afternoon together has been one of the highlights of the season.

Thank You

To everyone who has visited the farm, shared one of our posts, recommended us to a friend, or supported our family business

Thank you.

Every smile, every bucket picked, and every visit reminds us why we love doing what we do.

There are still several weeks of blueberry season ahead, and we hope you’ll make another trip out to the farm before the season comes to a close.
