​​​What’s Happening at the Farm – Blueberry Season is On!​

There’s nothing quite like blueberry season at Reenders Blueberry Farms—and we’re just getting started! Whether you’re a seasoned picker or planning your first visit, we’ve got something for everyone to enjoy. 

U-Pick Is Open! 

Grab your sunhat and bring the family—U-Pick is officially open and the bushes are bursting with berries! 

Don’t have a bucket? No problem.

You’re welcome to bring your own, or we’ll have buckets ready for you at the farm. U-Pick is open Monday–Saturday from 8AM to 5:30PM (our store stays open until 6PM). 

Stay a While: Playground, Treats & More 

After you’ve picked your fill, kick back and enjoy some of the best parts of the farm: 

• Let the kids burn off energy at our farm playground 
• Cool off with a fresh blueberry lemonade 
• Treat yourself to homemade blueberry donuts, muffins, and baked goods, made fresh daily 

It’s a little slice of summer—and we love sharing it with you! 

Blueberry Varieties Available 

We’re proud to grow several delicious varieties throughout the season. Right now, you might find: 

• Bluecrop – A customer favorite! Sweet with a little tang and perfect for snacking or baking. 
• Jersey – A late-season variety known for its sweetness and deep blue color. Only available in U-pick. 
• Elliott – One of the latest-ripening blueberries with a crisp texture and mild flavor. Great for freezing! 
• Liberty – Ripening late season to early August. A flavorful, firm favorite with a pop of tang! 
• Arora – One of the last to ripen—but worth the wait! Juicy, mildly sweet, with a mellow flavor.

Ever wonder what goes into getting fresh blueberries from the bush to your bucket? 

Harvest season at Reenders is a busy, beautiful blur of early mornings, full fields, and a whole lot of teamwork. Our crew starts picking bright and early—usually just after sunrise—to make sure the berries stay cool, fresh, and flavorful. 

Here are a few fun facts from behind the scenes: 

• We harvest by hand and by machine. Some fields are picked by our hardworking crew, while others use mechanical harvesters designed to gently shake the ripe berries off the bush. 
• We pick different varieties at different times. Each type of blueberry ripens on its own schedule, so we’re always moving through the fields to keep up with what’s ready. 
• It takes a village. From our field crew to the bakers in the market and the smiling faces at the register—it’s a full farm effort to bring you the best of blueberry season. 

Next time you’re here picking, just know there’s a lot of heart (and hard work) going into every bucket of berries! 

Blueberry Tips from the Farm 

Make the most of your berries with these simple farm-tested tips: 

• Don’t wash until you’re ready to eat.
  Washing before storing can cause blueberries to spoil faster. Keep them dry and refrigerated for longer freshness! 
• Freeze for later.
  Spread your berries on a baking sheet and freeze them unwashed. Once frozen, transfer to a sealed container. Rinse when ready to use. 
• Blueberries like to breathe.
  Avoid sealed plastic bags for storage. Instead, use a breathable container lined with paper towel in the fridge. 
• Berries are best enjoyed fresh—but baking makes them shine too!
  Try adding them to muffins, pancakes, or a classic crisp.

• Come early for cooler picking and the best berries.
  The fields are freshest in the morning, and it’s a great time to beat the summer heat. 
• Dress for the field.
  Closed-toe shoes or boots, hats, and sunscreen are always a good idea. 
• Buckets & bags:
  Bring your own container or use one of ours—we’ll have clean buckets ready! 
• Hydrate!
  Bring a water bottle or grab a refreshing drink (like our blueberry lemonade!) at the farm stand. 
• Keep your berries cool.
  Bring a cooler if you’re traveling far or making other stops after picking 
• Cash or card? 
  We accept both at the farm store. 
• Family-friendly fun:
  The playground is open, and there’s plenty of space for kids to explore safely.
